Job summary

Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority is seeking an entry-level Field Operator to support the Field Operations team in wastewater pump stations. Under supervision, you will assist with inspections, maintenance, and basic electrical, plumbing, and instrumentation tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and reading, writing, and basic math skills. A valid driver’s license and BJWSA training in safety, first aid, and equipment operation are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prefer a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Proficiency in utilizing computers and electrical equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete BJWSA sponsored training in work zone safety, trenching and shoring, arc flash training, crane operations, confined space entry, lock out/tag out, first aid/CPR and blood borne pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and maintenance on wastewater pump stations.
• Assist with pipeline locating and customer service inspections.
• Maintain, install and repair water and sewer lines; operate valves.
• Perform line flushing to ensure quality service.
• Work in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations and safety standards.
• Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime and on-call rotations.
