Job summary

Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking a Compressor Station Operator II to oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of natural gas compression facilities. This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, inspecting, and maintaining compressor station equipment to maximize uptime, ensure operational efficiency, and support regulatory and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with gas compression systems, strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safe operations in a field environment.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring
  • Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated process equipment.
  • Adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal pressure, flow, and system efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inspections of station equipment and systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify abnormalities or operational issues.
  • Record and communicate operating data to support production and maintenance activities.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform routine and minor maintenance on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process‑related issues.
  • Support troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety by identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, and near‑misses.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, and safety inspection reports.
  • Document equipment performance, operational changes, and maintenance activities.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and operational deviations in a timely manner.
  • Utilize digital reporting tools, maintenance management systems, and operational software for data entry and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in natural gas compression operations, oil and gas production, midstream facilities, and industrial maintenance environments.
  • Working knowledge of rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process control systems.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical, vocational, or trade school training is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment schematics, technical manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and control room operations preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • H2S Awareness
  • First Aid/CPR
  • DOT Operator Qualification (OQ)
  • Other industry‑recognized safety or operations certifications
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote field locations.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including flame‑resistant clothing, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and respiratory protection when necessary.
  • Must be capable of safely accessing elevated platforms, ladders, and confined operational areas when required.
