Job summary

Metronet in Bryan, TX is seeking a Field Operations Network Supervisor to manage fiber technician operations, safety, and maintenance across hub sites. You will guide hiring, training, and inventory control while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma, GED or similar.
• 3-5 Years splicing experience.
• 1-2 years supervisor or leadership experience.
• Prior hands-on experience with the installation and maintenance of customer inside wire.
• Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, or other Microsoft products.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the selection, hiring, and career development of all field technicians.
• Help establish and maintain a standard for equipping technicians with tools and test sets.
• Manage the company tools and test set inventory and address loss issues.
• Develop a training and skills development curriculum for hires and current staff.
• Manage workplace safety and provide safety training as required.
• Manage productivity and quality of work at the individual level.
• Develop and maintain a district out-of-hours call out schedule.
• Provide support to video engineering and facilities engineering with planning and maintenance for hub sites.
• Assist video and network engineering teams with planning hub sites (location, size, exterior, internal layout).
• Support monitoring and maintenance of hub site electronics and peripheral systems.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and service affecting problems.
• Respond rapidly to security or equipment alarms.
• Support Outside Plant with repair and maintenance activities.
• Develop OSP preventative maintenance routines with OSP manager to minimize outages.
• Provide assistance as needed with OSP repair and restoration.
• Ensure OSHA, NESC, NEC, and MetroNet safety regulations are followed for all work.
• Keep up-to-date with FCC and regulatory requirements and standards.
• Manage vehicle inventory, tools, test set utilization.
• All other duties as deemed necessary

Field Operations Network Supervisor

As a Field Operations Network Supervisor you will be responsible for managing all Network Fiber Technicians operations in the assigned geographic area. As well as ensure all terminating, spicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing of all fiber optic cables is done correctly to ensure operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• You will oversee the selection, hiring, and career development of all field technicians
• You will help establish and maintain a standard for equipping technicians with tools and test sets
• You will manage the company tools and test set inventory and quickly address ‘loss’ issues
• You will help develop a supporting training and skills development curriculum for both new hires and existing employee and maintain its currency
• You will manage workplace safety and provide safety training to employees as required
• You will manage both the productivity and quality of work down to the individual employee level
• You will develop and maintain a district out-of-hours call out schedule
• You will provide support to the video engineering and facilities engineering departments with the planning and maintenance functions for hub sites
• You will assist the video and network engineering teams with the planning of all MetroNet hub sites in terms of advising as to their location, size, exterior appearance, and internal layout.
• You will support the monitoring and maintenance of all hub site electronics and peripheral systems
• You will assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and service affecting problems
• You will rapidly respond to any security or equipment alarms
• You will support Outside Plant with repair and maintenance activities (Note: keep as original list)
• You will work with OSP manager to develop OSP preventative maintenance routines to minimize potential outages
• You will provide assistance as needed with OSP repair and restoration activities.
• You will ensure OSHA, NESC, NEC, and MetroNet safety regulations and precautions are followed for all work activities

• You will manage vehicle inventory, tools, test set utilization
• All other duties as deemed necessary
