Field Operations Manager - General Construction Company
JMK Miami Contractor Corp.| Miami Beach, FL | Full-time, In-Field
The Role
We're hiring aField Operations Managerto own the field execution of our entire active project portfolio — currently16 concurrent jobsacross residential remodeling and new construction.
This isnot a desk joband it's not a single-site superintendent role. You will be in the field every day, moving between jobs, with one primary objective:make projects finish faster, cleaner, and closer to budget than they otherwise would.
We grew sales roughly80% year over year. The owners have personally run field operations up to this point and can no longer be in enough places at once. This role exists becausethe company outgrew us.
What You'll Actually Do
Keep Every Job Moving
- Visit every active job at least once per week; typically3–4 site stops per day.
- Spend real time driving between Miami Beach, Miami-Dade, and Broward jobsites.
- Identify what's blocking each job before it stalls — missing materials, unscheduled trades, unapproved changes, inspection gates, unresolved RFIs — and clear it.
- Enforce sequencing so trades aren't tripping over each other or waiting on predecessors.
Own Quality and Rework
- Inspect work in progress against approved scope, plans, and specifications — not after the fact, but while it's still inexpensive to correct.
- Verify trade-specific scope confirmations are understood before work begins.
- Drive rework costs down as an explicit, measured metric.
Run the Coordination Team
- Work in constant communication with ourfour project coordinatorssupporting field operations, labor, remodeling, and new construction.
- Review daily reports and two-week look-aheads.
- Hold coordinators accountable for accurate, on-time submissions.
- Translate what you see in the field into schedule updates and procurement actions the same day.
Protect the Numbers
- Track committed vs. actual costs on every job inBuildertrendand flag variances early — not at closeout.
- Manage subcontractor performance by holding them accountable to committed dates and contracted scope.
- Escalate quickly when subcontractors don't perform.
- Drive jobs through closeout — punch, final inspections, documentation, and final billing — instead of letting them linger at 95%.
Report Clearly
- Provide ownership with a concise, accurate picture of portfolio health without being asked twice.
- Communicate clearly enough — both verbally and in writing — that decisions can be made from your update alone.
What You NeedRequired
- 5+ years of construction experiencewith direct field responsibility — superintendent, project manager, or assistant PM running multiple concurrent jobs.
- Working knowledge of residential remodeling and/or new construction means and methods, including structural, MEP rough-in, finishes, inspections, and permitting.
- Genuine comfort with technology. You use software as a default, not a chore.
- Buildertrend experience, or demonstrated fluency with a comparable platform such as Procore, CoConstruct, or Buildxact, with the ability to become fully productive in Buildertrend quickly.
- Fluency with modern communication tools including Slack, WhatsApp, shared calendars, and cloud document management.
- Strong written communication. You will write every day. Sloppy writing creates rework.
- Valid Florida driver's license and reliable vehicle. This role is mobile every day.
Strongly Preferred
- Spanish/English bilingual — much of our trade base operates in Spanish.
- Familiarity with Miami-Dade and Miami Beach permitting and inspection processes.
- Experience managing subcontractors directly, including holding them accountable to schedule and scope.
Who Succeeds Here
- Hungry. You want to grow with a company that's growing, and you want more responsibility than your last role gave you.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and speed. We're building process while executing volume.
- Direct. You raise problems early and in plain language.
- Biased toward closing things out.You don't let problems sit.
Compensation
Performance Bonus:
Paid on two components:
- Quarterly Execution Bonus— tied to metrics within your control, including schedule adherence, rework cost as a percentage of job cost, and closeout cycle time.
- Completed-Job Margin Share— based on gross margin performance against the job's buyout budget.
The full bonus structure and targets are shared and modeled during the interview process, so you know exactly what you're working towardbefore you accept the role.
Why This Role?
The company is growing fast, and this position sitsdirectly under ownership. There is no layer between you and the decisions.
If you perform, the scope of what you run grows with the business. We expect the field organization toexpand under this role, not around it.
