Job summary

Balfour Beatty US seeks an Assistant Superintendent for the National Special Projects Group, based in the Mid-Atlantic (Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C.). The role supports daily site operations, safety oversight, and quality control under the Superintendent, with some travel beyond project closeout.

You will coordinate subcontractors, monitor progress, and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while contributing to teamwork and operational excellence

Qualifications

• : Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• :
• Minimum 10+ years of field construction experience, interior upfits and renovations.
• :
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• :
• Strong scheduling, quality control and communication skills.
• :
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• :
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• :
• Experience managing subcontractors or small project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Field Coordination: supervise and coordinate subcontractor work to maintain schedule, quality, and safety standards.
• Safety Management: lead weekly safety meetings, inspections, and ensure OSHA 10/30 compliance.
• Planning & Scheduling: participate in pull planning and CPM meetings, track progress and look-ahead schedules.
• Project Start-up: support site mobilization, fencing, signage, utilities, and staging.
• Quality Assurance: verify work meets contract specs, document inspections, coordinate testing and corrective actions.
• Subcontractor Management: conduct orientations, review daily reports, ensure site logistics support.
• Closeout & Turnover: assist in testing life safety systems, MEP commissioning, and owner move-in coordination.
• Team Collaboration: work with Superintendent to maintain momentum and mentor junior staff.
