Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an intern to gain hands-on experience in construction management within the Power Market. The role offers exposure to project controls, craft management, safety, quality, and contract administration on major EPC and bid-build projects across North America.

The program emphasizes relocation flexibility, teamwork, and learning from experienced professionals while supporting estimates, scheduling, safety, and field operations on diverse power projects.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship to begin or continue employment
  • Broad knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, and reading owner specs/drawings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log and/or Primavera P6 is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to access all points of a construction site in various conditions
  • Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements preferred
  • Ability to travel and relocate as required
  • Reliable transportation to and from work

Responsibilities

  • Work with a diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial systems
  • Support administrative and construction activities; review proposals/specs, drawings, perform takeoffs, prepare cost estimates
  • Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors
  • Prepare work plans, ensure quality control, manage costs and materials, schedule equipment, support safety programs
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to a fast-paced, heavy construction environment
  • Willingness to relocate as needed
