Job summary

Southern Company is seeking a technical leader to support FACTS and GIS technologies for customers across the Southern Company footprint. You will work within the Equipment Services group and serve as a technical resource for design, maintenance, sparing strategy and problem resolution for STATCOM and GIS projects.

Role involves field and office work at the Forest Park, GA location with ~40% travel to vendor sites for audits and witness testing, focusing on safety, quality, and customer service.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Safety-conscious and able to work with diverse teams

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and quality are top priorities
• Support STATCOM and GIS projects including coordinating with Transmission Planning, customers, and vendors
• Provide technical guidance to Project Management for scoping and feasibility
• Assist in design activities such as specifications, design reviews, factory audits and witness testing
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues
