Job summary

Southern Company in Forest Park, GA is seeking a leader to support FACTS and GIS technologies across the Southern Company footprint. You will serve as a technical resource for design, maintenance, sparing strategy, and problem resolution for STATCOM and GIS projects.

The role works with Equipment Services and vendors to ensure requirements are met. The position requires a mix of field and office work with a travel expectation of about 40% to vendor locations for audits and witness testing,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Engineering Bachelor's degree is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of STATCOMs and GIS technologies is preferred but not required.
• Experience in transmission planning, maintenance, substation physical design or protection and controls is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and guidance for FACTS and GIS technologies.
• Support STATCOM and GIS projects with design reviews, factory audits, witness testing, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with supply chain management and Equipment Services and vendors to meet requirements.
• Act as a technical resource for project scoping, feasibility, and customer interactions.
