Position Summary

As Field Medical Director at A79, you will be A79.ai’s front-line scientific, strategic partner to pharmaceutical and biotech clients as they embark on their AI journey across medical affairs, medical information teams.

Blending deep therapeutic expertise with hands-on AI implementation know-how, you will guide medical affairs teams in identifying high-value AI use-cases, deploying agentic solutions, and driving measurable improvements in stakeholder engagement, evidence generation, and patient outcomes.

Key ResponsibilitiesClient Advisory & Enablement
  • Serve as principal medical science–AI advisor to assigned pharma clients, assessing current capabilities, uncovering unmet needs, and crafting phased AI adoption roadmaps for medical affairs.
  • Conduct workshops and maturity assessments that benchmark client medical affairs operations against industry best practices and AI-driven possibilities.
  • Translate scientific strategy into AI-supported field tactics—from dynamic KOL mapping to automated insight mining and personalized scientific content.
AI Solution Design & Implementation
  • Partner with A79.ai product, data science, and engineering teams to configure agentic AI modules (e.g., conversational MSL copilots, NLP insight engines etc) to client requirements.
  • Oversee pilot programs and full-scale deployments, ensuring seamless integration with client CRM, data lakes, and compliance workflows.
  • Define and track success metrics for AI (e.g., time-to-insight, Pharma satisfaction, HCP satisfaction, evidence output velocity) to demonstrate ROI and refine models.
  • Lead or support field medical engagements—advisory boards, congress activities, investigator meetings—demonstrating AI-augmented scientific exchange in real time.
Training & Change Management
  • Develop and deliver custom curricula that upskill client MSLs, medical directors, and cross-functional teams on AI literacy, responsible use, and field application.
  • Champion a culture of continuous AI-driven insight generation, coaching teams to iterate and expand use-cases post-launch.
Compliance & Responsible AI Governance
  • Advise clients on establishing or refining AI governance frameworks that align with FDA, OIG, PhRMA Code, GDPR, and corporate policies.
  • Ensure transparency, auditability, and bias mitigation across all AI-enabled medical activities.
Qualifications
  • Advanced life-science degree (PharmD, MD, PhD).
  • 8+ years in medical affairs, medical information hubs or clinical development, including client-facing consulting or solutions implementation.
  • Proven track record deploying digital or AI technologies within pharma medical affairs.
  • Deep knowledge of one or more therapeutic areas and the current regulatory landscape.
  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Willingness to travel (~40–50%) to client sites and scientific congresses.
