Field Mechanic II - Pipeline

Location: US-TX-Amarillo

Overview

Responsible for leading the operations and appearance of Wanzek Construction's equipment at the jobsite level. This position reports directly to project personnel and collaborates with the Shop Manager to plan, schedule work, and seek advice or assistance.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage fleet maintenance, perform repairs, and troubleshoot equipment.
  2. Travel to job sites for repairs, inspections, and review maintenance procedures.
  3. Conduct onsite repairs and troubleshooting.
  4. Maintain equipment locator list and inventory records.
  5. Develop and maintain an equipment maintenance tracking database.
  6. Ensure all equipment safety standards are met, including inspections and safety features.
  7. Operate equipment to diagnose problems and inspect for defects.
  8. Ensure proper record keeping and documentation of all work performed.
  9. Comply with all safety regulations and report safety issues immediately.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school in Diesel or Automotive Technology and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Certifications in electrical diagnostics, A/C systems, welding, OEM certifications, etc., are preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to safety and health standards.
  • Qualified to operate the 1-ton rig on-site and between projects.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
  • Ability to supervise third-party mechanics and maintain work records.
  • High efficiency, independence, and willingness to exceed expectations.

Compensation: $33.28 - $38/hour, based on experience.
