Summary

Inspect, maintain, and repair construction vehicles and heavy equipment/machinery using hand and power tools and appropriate lifting equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and servicing equipment and vehicles
  • Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure efficiency
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Requirements
  • Work in dusty or dirty environments
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, and manipulate small objects; good vision and hearing (corrected if necessary)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to be away from home for extended periods
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Own tools required
Education and Experience

High school diploma preferred, with two to three years of relevant experience.
