Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking a Field Mechanic to work at various locations in New York and travel as needed to support customer demands.

The role covers maintenance and repair of equipment from cranes to small engines, with responsibilities including deployment, diagnostics, and keeping tools and vehicles in good condition. Candidates should have 1–5 years of mechanical experience and be able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years experience in field mechanics or related work.
• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Experience or schooling in mechanics.
• Must have or obtain CDL license within 60 days of employment.
• Must have and maintain own general tools.
• Ability to learn hydraulics, diesel/gas engines, chassis and suspension, welding/metal fabrication, small tool repair.
• Must learn to use computers for diagnostics, inventory management and work orders.
• Certifications in ASE, Ford or International, Altec/Telelect, hydraulic maintenance, or utility/construction jobs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for 70 - 100 pieces of equipment per region.

• Knowledge of equipment mechanics ranging from as large as a crane to as small as a chain saw.
• Work safely while performing repairs or maintenance on a job site in various weather conditions.

• Travel long distances on short notice when required.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Perform related duties to complete the job.
• Must be able to perform other related duties as required to meet ongoing needs of the organization

Position Summary:

The Field Mechanic position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for 70 - 100 pieces of equipment per region.
• Manage Deployment of Equipment across regions, cities and states.
• Knowledge of equipment mechanics ranging from as large as a crane to as small as a chain saw.
• Work safely while performing repairs or maintenance on a job site in various weather conditions.
• Troubleshooting in various localities regarding equipment repair, maintenance and deployment.
• Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others while performing job.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Does all other related work as required to complete the job.

Other Requirements:

• Requires 1-5 years experience.
• Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Experience or schooling in mechanics.
• Must have or be able to obtain CDL license within the 60 days of employment.
• Must have own general tools.
• Must be able to learn or perform work in the following disciplines:
  o Hydraulics
  o Diesel/gas engine - automatic
  o Chassis and suspension
  o Welding/metal fabrication
  o Small tool repair
• Must know or be able to learn how to use computers for:
  o Diagnostics
  o Equipment Inventory management
  o Work Orders
• Certifications or Experiences in any of the following a plus:
  o ASE certification
  o Ford or international certifications

  o Utility or construction jobs
• Understands equipment set up and grounding.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
• Willing to work over-time when requested.

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
