Position summary

We believe that homeowners don't just need a contractor – they need a Home Improvement Partner For Life. We are on a mission to become that partner. One go-to team who understands their home as a whole. That's why we don't stop at just one or two services. We offer renovations, remodels, safety and accessibility upgrades as well as handy fixes. Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with every home we step into – deeply understanding not just the house but the people who call it home.

The Field Measure & Quality Control Specialist holds a critical position in the organization: the first quality checkpoint on every job and the last line of defense before ordering decisions are made. This person goes into the field, confirms the space and the selections the salesperson captured, and hands clean, exact information to estimating and ordering. Because every order depends on this person's accuracy, the role has a direct impact on the company's finances.

The role sits between Sales, Estimating, and Ordering. It needs someone with real installation and construction QC experience who no longer wants to install but knows the work well enough to spot what will go wrong on install day. It is equally a field role and a communication role. Strong cross-functional communication with Sales, Estimating, Ordering, installers, and customers is critical, along with comfort using technology.

Key responsibilities
Field measurement and verification
  • Visit customer sites to measure spaces and double-check measurements taken by the sales team.
  • Confirm site conditions that affect the finished install, such as out-of-square walls, uneven floors, plumbing and electrical locations, and required clearances.
  • Capture measurements, floor plans, and photos in MagicPlan on an iPad, accurately and on the day of the visit.
Specification and order accuracy
  • Verify customer selections and specifications against the sales order, down to product, color, finish, and quantity (for example, confirming the exact blue bathroom tile chosen).
  • Check trim, fillers, and fit details, including required gaps such as a 1/4" gap at the wall.
  • Flag discrepancies before orders are placed, and resolve them with the customer and salesperson.
Estimating support
  • Prepare or verify residential estimates from field measurements (no commercial blueprint takeoffs).
  • Calculate material quantities, including waste factors, trim, and accessories.
Quality control
  • Serve as the first quality control checkpoint in the job workflow and the last line of defense before ordering decisions are made.
  • Write clear punch lists of what the job needs: materials, prep work, trades, and open questions.
  • Anticipate installation problems and document them so crews arrive prepared.
Communication and coordination
  • Act as the link between Sales and Estimating, and between Sales and Ordering, so information passes cleanly with nothing lost.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on site, answering questions about the process and setting expectations.
  • Explain installation sequences in plain terms to customers and salespeople when needed.
  • Keep appointments and turn around measurements and reports on schedule.
Reporting (growing part of the role)
  • Document field findings in written reports, spreadsheets, or the company's systems.
  • Over time, help build a standard field reporting process.
Required qualifications
  • 5–10 years of hands‑on construction experience, with extensive installation experience (tile, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, or bath remodeling).
  • Able to explain a complete shower installation step by step, from demo and substrate through waterproofing, tile, and finish.
  • Construction quality control experience, including inspecting work and writing punch lists.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Exact measurements are critical, and small errors lead to wrong orders.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and tablet-based apps.
  • Able to learn and use MagicPlan on an iPad (prior use a plus).
  • Strong cross‑functional communication skills (critical) across Sales, Estimating, Ordering, and field crews, plus customer‑facing skills: personable, professional, and clear.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a track record of meeting appointments and deadlines.
  • Organizational and coordination skills that bridge field work and office processes.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (company transportation provided).
  • Physically able to access job sites, climb ladders, kneel, and work in occupied homes.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience writing field reports or inspection reports.
  • Residential estimating experience.
  • Project coordination or project management experience paired with a hands‑on construction background.
  • Prior use of MagicPlan or similar measuring and floor‑plan software.
  • Familiarity with building codes and manufacturer installation requirements (for example, tile and waterproofing system specs).
