ABOUT SWING LEFT

Swing Left’s mission is simple: we make it easy for people to maximize their impact on the most competitive elections to help Democrats win. Since launching in 2017, Swing Left’s one million members have raised more than $140 million for Democratic candidates, civic organizations, and voter mobilization efforts, and engaged more than 50 million voters door-to-door, by phone, and through handwritten letters. What makes us different:

  • Swing Left is singularly focused on directing grassroots time and money to help Democrats win close races that will determine the balance of power in our government, from the White House to key state houses.
  • We use data, rigorous evidence and technology to increase volunteer and donor impact by driving the right resources to the right campaigns, at the right time.
  • We put people first, delivering a member experience focused on strategic action, not noise—no spam emails, texts, or doomsday messaging.
JOB SUMMARY

This role is focused on Ground Truth, Swing Left’s people-powered organizing program designed to help Democrats win back power by reimagining how we talk with voters. As part of Ground Truth, we are running a randomized controlled trial (RCT) in Texas testing two voter contact scripts to build a stronger evidence base for how we persuade voters to support Democrats.

This role is based on the ground in Texas and blends field organizing with RCT implementation and management. The person in this role will travel to key areas across Texas to train and support volunteers, run canvasses and debriefs, and coach volunteers directly, alongside owning the day-to-day work that keeps the RCT running cleanly and maintaining fidelity to the experimental protocol and monitoring data integrity.

Canvassing, debriefs, and data review

  • Run canvasses and lead in-person canvass debriefs
  • Run virtual debriefs
  • Regularly check canvassing data in real time including qualitative and quantitative data

Project management and experimental implementation

  • Manage the logistics of treatment and control assignment: ensure turf is cut and distributed according to the randomization assignment, maintain the assignment records, and confirm that turf was canvassed according to the proper treatment assignment
  • Watch for and elevate threats to the study design, including crossover into control areas and off-protocol contact
  • Manage the on the ground relationship with, and coordinate day-to-day with partner staff directly
