Job summary

Leon County Government in Tallahassee is seeking a maintenance worker to operate zero turn mowers and other small equipment for roadway, right-of-way and stormwater projects. You will perform tasks to support the division's mission and ensure safe, timely completion of daily duties.

Duties include using chainsaws, vibroplates, blowers, weed eaters and pavement saws; assist with riprap, grading and drainage; complete timesheets; and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of related experience; experience may substitute for diploma.

Responsibilities

• Operates zero turn mowers and small equipment for roadway, right-of-way, and stormwater maintenance.
• Performs tasks with chainsaws, vibroplates, blowers, weed eaters, push mowers, pavement saws, jack hammers, etc.
• Cuts bushes/trees and assists with drainage maintenance and stabilization work.
• Completes bi-weekly timesheets and incident reports as required.
• May be placed on-call standby for emergencies and non-routine assignments.
