Job summary

Casey's General Stores Inc. is seeking a Field Maintenance Technician to service HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and fuel systems across 12-15 stores in Ames, IA and surrounding areas. You will diagnose, repair, install, and document work with a company vehicle and travel 20%–40% of the time.

Relocation may be provided for candidates not in the area. Starting pay ranges from $25.50 to $33.50 per hour, with benefits that include health insurance and a 401(k) match after 90 days, plus

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• HVAC certification preferred; EPA Type 1/2 or Universal required or obtainable within 180 days.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building & mechanical trades.
• Experience installing and repairing electrical, plumbing, refrigeration equipment.
• Must have strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Able to interpret blueprints and sketches, and follow written instructions.
• Able to adapt to changing situations and work well under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for job-related duties.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs or replacements.
• Repair and maintain electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and fuel systems.
• Test equipment performance and repair/replace defective parts.
• Install electrical equipment and wiring; fixtures and bulbs.

As aField Maintenance Technician, you'll work in a designated set of stores completing service and maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration units, kitchen equipment, plumbing, electrical and fuel systems, and general building maintenance. Territory includes 12-15 stores in Ames, IA and surrounding areas.If you don't currently live in the area mentioned, relocation assistance may be provided.

What you'll do:

• Diagnose equipment problems, using judgement to determine how to repair or replace.
• Repair and maintain equipment and building electrical wiring, plumbing, refrigeration, and fuel devices.
• Use instruments to test and evaluate performance of equipment; repair or replace defective valves, thermostats, and other parts.
• Install electrical equipment, and repair or replace wiring, fixtures, and bulbs.
• Complete service documentation on what was installed, replaced, or repaired after each call. Reports must be accurately completed and submitted upon completion of job.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Starting hiring range: $25.50 - $33.50. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the typical hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building and mechanical trades.
• Prior experience with installing and repairing electrical systems, plumbing, and refrigeration equipment and parts.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• EPA Type 1 and 2 or Universal Certification required or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire date.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and verbal and written instruction.
• Must have the ability to respond and adjust to changing or new situations.
• Work well in high stress environments and maintain professionalism.
• Must have excellent guest services skills.
• Work is primarily performed in a store setting.
• Travel with overnight stays required 20% to 40% of the time.
• Valid driver's license and physical ability to drive vehicle for job related travel.
