Field Line Technician — Overhead & Underground

Job summary

Kentucky Utilities, part of the LG&E/KU family, invites skilled line technicians to join our crew in Kentucky. You will perform overhead and underground line work, respond to outages, and help maintain reliable service for 1.3 million customers across the region.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic line training, and a valid CDL with air brakes endorsement. You must be willing to relocate within 30 miles and work after hours during storms or emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must have good mathematical, literacy and communications skills.
• Must be willing to respond to storm trouble and other emergencies after hours.
• Must live within 30 miles of report location or be willing to relocate.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and certifiable under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Must qualify within a reasonable period of time for a Class B Commercial Drivers License with the endorsement: air brakes.
• Must be successfully recommended from EEI CAST test.

Responsibilities

• Use standards to perform maintenance and construction in overhead and underground work.
• Must be proficient in climbing and handling self on a utility pole.
• Basic knowledge in installing conductors in overhead and underground environments
• Familiar with proper grounding procedures for overhead and underground circuits
• Proficient in the use of bucket and derrick trucks and safety procedures associated with their use
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of company safety rules and safe work procedures.
• Proper use and care of equipment, tools and rope
• Know lines and equipment and patrol when necessary
• Know proper care of live line tools, handling, and storing protective equipment
