Job summary

Christman Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Field Layout Engineer for Central Michigan or West Michigan. You will establish layout control, verify elevations, and ensure tolerances on construction projects.

Role requires Total Station experience, collaboration with project teams, and maintaining as-built records. A surveying certificate and 3+ years of layout work are preferred; carpentry exposure is a plus. This is a full-time position with growth opportunities in the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in Building Layout and using Total Station.
• Graduation from relevant trade school with certificate in surveying. Or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set up, and maintain layout control for projects.
• Ensure tolerances and quality standards are met.
• Establish building corners and reference points for checks.
• Verify elevations on drawings for roadways and utilities.
• Lay out column lines and walls; verify exterior encroachment.
• Plumb structural steel and check column alignments.
• Set benchmarks and control lines on each floor.
• Check slab elevation during pours and perform as-built surveys.
• Coordinate shop drawings and resolve discrepancies.
• Care for calibration of engineering equipment.
• Maintain project records and as-built documents.
