Job summary

WM is hiring for a Landfill Gas Technician I to operate and maintain the GCCS at the landfill site. You will manage gas collection from the wellfield, calibrate data devices, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations while following safety protocols.

The role involves field work in varied environments, on-call duties for GCCS malfunctions, and completing the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training. A valid driver’s license is required and experience in related fields is a plus.

Qualifications

• No experience is required but a valid driver’s license is required.
• Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical or mechanical work is preferred.
• Technical or trade school training in environmental science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with PVC/HDPE piping and data logging systems is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude or prior maintenance experience with pumps/motors is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GCCS to meet regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
• Calibrate, operate and maintain data collection devices for LFG collection.
• Collect and manage data from wellfield extraction and monitoring locations.
• Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
• Operate and maintain liquid management pump systems; troubleshoot liquid levels.
• Adjust and maintain wellfield valves, collect data, and interpret results.
• Use PVC/HDPE piping and related equipment for maintenance work.
• Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
• Develop understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations.
• Follow health and safety requirements and procedures.
• Respond on-call to GCCS-related malfunctions.
