Fort Bend County in Needville, TX seeks a Field Lab Surveillance Technician to survey trap sites, obtain permissions, set and retrieve mosquito traps, and test new traps. You will also maintain daily logs, assist with equipment maintenance, and support emergency management duties during disasters.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, knowledge of insecticides, and strong communication skills to interact with the public and staff under tight deadlines.

Work Here!Field Lab Surveillance Technician-Needville * Assists in surveying for suitable trap sites; Obtain permission from both public and private entities for locating traps at suitable selected trap sites; Prepares all trapping material for daily surveillance operations. Assists testing new mosquito traps; Sets and retrieves mosquito traps from designated operational areas; Identifies mosquitoes from other insects during field surveys and collections; Completes daily logs on vehicle and equipment usage; Assists with repair and maintenance all field equipment; Assists with the avian surveillance* Processes mosquito samples collected from the trapping process; Replenish and rotate Gravid trap attractant (hay infusion) as requested; Secures CDC light trap attractant (CO2) as requested. * During the recovery period, assists in other duties such as maintenance of application equipment and vehicles, building and ground maintenance, cleaning duties and field surveying, including used and abandoned tire retrieval throughout the community.* Assists in technical and non-technical service duties in other areas of Division as needed.* Other duties as assigned.* Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:* High School Diploma/GED.* Knowledge of Insecticides preferred* Strong ability to interact and communicate effectively with other employees and the public. Strong verbal skills. Ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines, and the ability to prioritize own work. Must be able to multitask and maintain dependability and reliability. Knowledge of record keeping procedures, spreadsheets, word processing. Special Requirements: Valid Texas Driver’s License, Required to obtain and maintain a Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator License within 2 months of employment. **SALARY RANGE: $18.49 to $23.12 /Hourly****CLOSING DATE:** Upon filling position**All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
