Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Testing Operations Technician to collect samples, repair and calibrate testing equipment, and support field and lab operations in Flora, IN. The role blends field sampling with office reporting and requires safety compliance and hands-on equipment handling.

The position offers full-time hours, a CDL (within 90 days if not current), and opportunities to advance through testing certifications and on-site CDL training.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines, laws and regulations, and INDOT practices.
• Knowledge of drafting and surveying techniques.
• Ability to independently lead and coordinate a crew in the field.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment for upkeep of highways and rights-of-way.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure compliance with INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Maintain, repair, and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Engage in emergency response like traffic control and incident response.
