Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician in Billings, MT to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and other materials.

You will follow ASTM/AASHTO procedures, communicate results to project managers and QA personnel, and maintain quality and safety standards across diverse projects. Travel up to 50% and lifting up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of relevant or related experience.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• A current ACI, WAQTC, AWS, or CWI certification(s).
• Pre-employment drug screening is required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs field and laboratory testing per ASTM, AASHTO, MDT and related procedures.
• Communicates results to project manager and QA representatives.
• Follows chain of custody to collect and transport specimens to the laboratory.
• Maintains internal and accredited quality standards including calibrations and maintenance.
• Uses reporting software to prepare clear, accurate reports for review by senior staff.
• Follows all safety guidelines and standards.
• Collects material samples and transports them to the laboratory for testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
