Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mid-Level Construction Materials Technician in Phoenix, AZ. You will perform field and laboratory tests to assess soil, asphalt, and concrete properties, record data, and prepare summary reports. Travel and site work are expected, with a focus on accuracy and safety in all testing activities.

You will collaborate with engineers and scientists, operate test equipment, and maintain calibration and documentation to support project quality and integrity.

Qualifications

• 5 years+ Construction Materials Testing experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Able to operate laboratory test equipment safely.
• Able to follow procedures and execute work orders.
• Able to lift and carry soil, asphalt and concrete samples.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests and investigations in the field or laboratory to determine physical properties of construction materials.
• Prepare samples for testing and record data; compile summary reports.
• Operate specialized equipment and prepare analyses or drawings.
• Maintain results log and enter data using spreadsheets.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Scientists on test design and reporting.
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain equipment; travel to sites as needed (≈15% overnight).
