Job summary

WSP has a career opportunity for a Construction Materials Technician to join our Albuquerque, NM team. The ideal candidate will perform field and laboratory tests to determine physical properties of construction materials and support engineering decisions.

You will collect soil, asphalt and concrete samples, prepare data, and report findings. Travel up to 15% to job sites and labs, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction materials testing experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Able to use laboratory test equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Able to understand procedure manuals and execute work orders.
• Able to prepare reports and documentation.
• Able to follow directions with strong attention to detail.
• May need to lift and carry soil, asphalt, and concrete samples.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests and investigations in field or laboratory to obtain data for engineering decisions.
• Demonstrate integrity in testing and reporting with accuracy and transparency.
• Perform field and laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures and standards.
• Collect samples and prepare them for testing, recording data and preparing reports.
• Set up, maintain and calibrate equipment; operate computer systems and peripherals.
