Job summary

The Construction Industries Board is seeking a Compliance Inspector III/Field Investigator (Mechanical Trades). This home-based role covers Oklahoma with extensive in-state travel, inspecting sites, investigating licensing and code compliance, and testifying at hearings.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of investigative methods and state-adopted construction codes and mechanical standards.
• Understanding of licensing acts and industry regulations for mechanics.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret construction documents.
• Capable of preparing inspection reports and notices of violation.
• Knowledge of safety and code compliance during field inspections.

Responsibilities

• Investigate licensing and code standards at construction sites during visits.
• Receive and investigate complaints regarding licensing and code standards.
• Issue citations and prepare notices of violation as appropriate.
• Interpret laws/codes/ordinances and review plans when requested.
• Coordinate with city inspectors and other agencies to education on responsibilities.
• Plan and manage time and travel to ensure coverage of assigned counties.
• Enter information into databases, prepare summaries, and present citations at hearings.
• Prepare travel and activity reports for supervisory review.
• Maintain professional conduct and cooperate with board, staff, and partners.
