Job summary

EXL is seeking a Field Insurance Inspector who works from a home office and travels daily to client sites around Sacramento, CA. The role focuses on high value property and commercial surveys, assessing replacement cost and risk for underwriting.

You will conduct virtual and onsite inspections, prepare narrative reports, and collaborate with agents and policyholders. A strong professional demeanor, multitasking, and travel willingness are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property surveys on high value homes, documenting construction materials, workmanship and features of structure.
• Determine square footage of the home through measurements or by replicating building plans.
• Generate an estimate replacement cost based on industry calculators, EXL resources and your findings.
• Observe and assess hazards to the property for underwriting, including wildfire and hurricane exposure.
• Complete detailed survey reports with narrative assessments.
• Conduct underwriting surveys and loss control assessments on commercial businesses.
• Evaluate risk for various insurance lines including Property, General Liability, Workers' Comp and Auto/Fleet.
• Engage business owners to discuss safety culture, loss history and risk controls.
• Document hazards and make recommendations for risk improvement.
