Job summary

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking an Instrument and Control Specialist to maintain plant instrument and control equipment at the West County Plant in Loxahatchee, Florida. The role travels across the state to support outages and operates on a regular day shift (Mon-Fri) with occasional weekend support.

Overtime ranges from 400 to 800 hours annually, with per diem for travel outside the region. Tools are provided; candidates should be able to read electrical and mechanical diagrams,

Qualifications

• Must have held, or be qualified to hold the position of Instrument and Control Specialist, or completed the Apprentice Instrument and Control Specialist program.
• Has worked at another industrial facility as an I. and C. technician with an accredited training program.
• Has worked for 2 years in maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control devices with related coursework.
• Any graduate with an associate degree in Electronics or Instrument technology is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Operates power tools and uses meters/test equipment to maintain a safe, productive workplace.
• Performs major maintenance and repair of plant instrument and control equipment and structures.
• Installs, tests and maintains electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical instruments and devices.
• Performs preventive maintenance and reads electrical/mechanical diagrams and blueprints.
• Prepares calibration and maintenance records and ensures proper documentation.
