Job summary

State of Florida invites applications for an Agriculture & Consumer Protect Inspector role. The incumbent enforces animal health regulations, conducts disease surveillance, and performs inspections of livestock premises to protect Florida’s agricultural sector and public safety.

The position requires a high school diploma and a valid Florida driver license; preference goes to those with livestock care and husbandry experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Requires possession of a valid Class E Driver License.
• Preference will be given to those with experience in the care, management and husbandry of livestock including equine or poultry.

Responsibilities

• Enforce state rules and regulations for animal disease control and zoonotic protection.
• Conduct livestock inspections at markets, shows and exhibitions; verify permits and movement documents.
• Assist with NPIP testing, sample collection, and shipping; educate livestock owners on biosecurity.
• Respond to emergencies and support Florida’s ESF17 during natural disasters or animal disease outbreaks.
• Prepare and distribute electronic daily activity reports; maintain supplies and equipment inventory.
