Job summary

PROENERGY is seeking skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Startup Technicians to support startup and commissioning of control systems on large-scale EPC power generation projects. Positions span Junior to Senior levels, with travel around field sites and heavy involvement in calibration, loop checks, and troubleshooting.

Locations are field-based with extensive on-site work, often requiring extended hours to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience in I&C installation, testing, or commissioning in industrial or power generation environments preferred; required experience varies by level (up to 5+ years for Senior Technician).
• Demonstrated understanding of electrical equipment operation, electrical equipment maintenance requirements, and maintenance restrictions imposed by safety and environmental regulations.
• Technical competence including understanding of software, hardware, networks, etc.
• Proficiency with calibration and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, loop calibrators, pressure calibrators, HART communicators).
• Ability to work in harsh environments, in stressful situations, and during unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, calibration, and testing of field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
• Perform loop checks, point-to-point wiring verification, and I/O checkout between field devices and control systems (DCS/PLC).
• Stroke, test, and verify control valves, actuators, and limit switches.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, instrument data sheets, and wiring diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and control issues during startup and commissioning.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and controls teams to ensure system readiness and safe energization.
• Help prepare and maintain startup documentation, including calibration records, test records, and punch lists.
• Perform material handling, equipment setup, and general labor tasks to support startup crews.
• Follow lockout/tagout and all site safety procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area.
