Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the Little Rock area. You will operate heavy equipment on site, perform safety checks, and support maintenance planning.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years of equipment operation experience, and GPS familiarity. Union membership is encouraged; drug screening is required, and field work occurs in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years’ experience running heavy equipment.
• GPS experience required.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
• Must be able to perform a try-out running the equipment during the interview process.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen.
• Position functions in the field (100%), in all types of weather conditions.
• Current Union Member in good status with the International Union of Operating Engineers, or a willingness to become a member.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety maintenance and checks.
• Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
• Inform and advise management for maintenance or major repairs on equipment.
• Respond to signals and directions by staff and work in coordination with them.
