Job summary

Vermeer Southeast is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment at customer sites and dealership locations in the Southeast region. You will diagnose defects, perform repairs, maintain service trucks, and document work orders with accurate time estimates.

You should have 2 years of technical training or equivalent experience, a valid CDL, and the ability to read schematics and work on diesel, hydraulic, and CAN/BUS systems.

Qualifications

• 2 years technical training or equivalent heavy equipment experience.
• Valid CDL license (CDL).
• Ability to read schematics and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN/BUS systems.
• Maintain a basic set of diagnostic and repair tools (specialty tools provided).
• Basic oxy/acetylene cutting and welding skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Maintain service trucks and travel to customer sites.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform necessary repairs with appropriate tools.
• Record diagnoses and procedures, order parts, and estimate repair time.
• Attend and complete required technician training classes.
• Follow safety precautions relevant to equipment work.

About the role

The Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic provides exceptional customer service in dealership through accurate inspections for defects and equipment diagnoses, and performs necessary services in the allotted time frame for each job.

What you'll do

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
• Maintain service trucks and travel to customer sites
• Demonstrated abilities to diagnose equipment failures and perform necessary repairs utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Record and document the diagnoses and procedures, order necessary parts, and estimate time to complete equipment repairs.
• Attends and successfully completes required technician training classes
• Working knowledge of the hazards and practical application of safety precautions common to equipment

Qualifications

• 2 years technical training/certification or equivalent heavy equipment industry experience
• Must have a valid Driver's License: CDL
• Ability to read schematics and repair mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN/BUS systems
• Must maintain a proper minimum set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and reassemble components for most equipment repairs (specialty tools are provided)
• Basic oxy/acetylene cutting and welding skills
