Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician in Chantilly, VA to support installation and monitoring of geotechnical and geophysical instrumentation on project sites.

You will perform routine field data collection under supervision, document observations, and communicate daily with contractors and project managers regarding site conditions. The role requires lifting up to 85 pounds, willingness to travel, and strong teamwork in field environments.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; an Associate's degree is a plus.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
• Ability to read maps and construction plans.
• Basic math and data recording skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assists with installation of geotechnical and geophysical instrumentation on project sites.
• Supports monitoring activities using instruments like inclinometers, total stations, prisms, leveling equipment, water level meters, and seismographs.
• Performs routine monitoring and field data collection under supervision.
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers regarding site conditions.
• Documents field observations and prepares daily field reports accurately.
• Supports basic calculations and data reduction; assists with documentation tasks.
