Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field-based specialist to plan and conduct geologic and environmental investigations in support of federal and commercial projects. You will perform drilling, logging, core logging, and prepare boring logs per ASTM/USCS standards, ensuring accurate field notes and documentation.

Role requires proficiency in soil/rock logging, environmental sample handling, and groundwater monitoring. Strong communication with military clients, contractors and government teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct geologic and environmental investigations.
• Conduct drilling and logging for projects.
• Log soil/rock cores and prepare boring logs per ASTM/USCS standards.
• Collect and manage environmental samples for lab analysis.
• Install and maintain groundwater monitoring wells/instrumentation.
• Prepare field notes and support documentation.
• Attend progress meetings.
