Job summary

St Helena Public Service seeks a Forest Worker to support field operations in the silviculture team. You will perform manual forestry tasks including land clearing, planting, thinning, pruning, fencing and harvesting sawlogs, firewood, and fence posts under the line manager’s guidance.

You will also collect seeds/seedlings and assist with nursery activities, contributing to maintenance of forest resources on St Helena. Applicants from across the community are welcome.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual forestry tasks preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform land clearing, control of invasive plant species, ground preparation, planting, thinning, pruning, fencing, cleaning, and harvesting of sawlogs, firewood, and fence posts as directed by the line manager.
• Collect tree seeds and seedlings when required and participate in nursery activities.
• Support field work within the silviculture team and assist with routine forestry tasks.
