Field Fleet Technician: On-Site Maintenance & Telemetry

Job summary

Carolina Cat, part of Weisiger Group, seeks an experienced Field Service Fleet Technician to support the Fleet Team in maintenance, installations and inspections of Fleet assets. This is a field-service on-site role at company and customer facilities.

The candidate will service vehicles from SUVs to heavy trucks (>10,000 lbs GVW), perform brake repairs, A/C diagnostics and telematics installations, and manage maintenance/repair workflows with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED; Mechanical tech cert preferred.
• Must read and communicate in English relating to job and safety regulations.
• Must be able to use or learn the equipment and tools used to perform this job.
• Must perform all job functions safely and meet company standards.
• Must have 5–10 years of on-highway truck repairs and maintenance.
• Must have a clean motor vehicle record and a Class B CDL.
• Must complete yearly training on-site and off-site; travel with possible overnights.

Responsibilities

• Promptly review work schedule and prepare for operations at shift start.
• Order or obtain necessary parts from local suppliers and OEMs.
• Perform PM Maintenance and Safety checks on all Fleet vehicles; notify supervisor of safety issues.
• Perform annual DOT inspections on all Fleet equipment.
• Install, replace, or repair engine and truck components per industry standards.
• Diagnose and repair A/C systems on fleet vehicles.
• Meet productivity metrics based on standard jobs and criteria.
• Follow company and customer safety policies and guidelines.
• Install and repair telematics devices.
• Maintain and input repair data into company systems.
• Test parts/equipment and perform quality checks after work.
• Pressure wash parts and equipment as needed.
• Perform general housekeeping duties; secure equipment at end of shift and complete paperwork.
• Other duties as assigned.
