Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. This role goes beyond basic installations, performing OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and fault troubleshooting in diverse environments nationwide.

As a 1099 contractor, you will work on-site across multiple facilities, document results, and coordinate with project stakeholders. A valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and fiber toolbox are required, with additional certifications

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of the listed certifications or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to:
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients and project stakeholders
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on your availability, NOT FULL TIME
