Job summary

LIGHTSPEED NETWORKS is seeking a Fiber Technician to install, splice, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic systems in outdoor field environments around Phoenix, AZ. The role requires safety awareness and the ability to work on-site, with potential night shifts and travel to job sites.

You will read blueprints and schematics, operate fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters, and collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and splicing documents.
• Must be willing to travel and work nights/weekends if required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform Fiber Optic Splicing (Fusion Splicing).
• Conduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and troubleshooting.
• Install, terminate, and maintain fiber optic cables and enclosures.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and splicing documents.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain documentation of splicing activities and test results.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to meet deadlines.
• Provide on-call support for emergency repairs as needed.
• Troubleshooting network issues.
