Job summary

Five Rivers Analytics (FRA), an Akima company, seeks an OSP Telecom Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic and copper networks in field conditions. You will read blueprints, splice diagrams, and job specs, and test with OTDRs, meters, and fusion splicers while adhering to safety and DoD standards.

Work is on-site with travel as needed; roles require DoD clearance and DoD 8570.01-M cert, plus the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• DoD 8570.01-M certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+) required within 60 days of hire.
• Experience in outside plant telecom, fiber optics, or related field preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings and network diagrams.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling.
• Support aerial and underground outside plant construction.
• Read blueprints, splice diagrams, maps, and job specs.
• Install and maintain OSP hardware like handholes, pedestals, cabinets.
• Perform fiber testing with OTDR, power meters, and light sources.
• Identify and resolve service issues and cable faults.
• Keep accurate records of work, test results, and field changes.
• Operate basic telecom tools and testing equipment.
• Follow safety standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
• Coordinate with supervisors, customers, inspectors, and field crews.
• Assist emergency restoration, including after-hours work.
• Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and compliant.
