Job summary

Hoar Construction in Austin, TX is recruiting for its Summer 2027 Internship Program for students studying civil engineering, construction engineering, or building sciences. The internship provides exposure to estimating, project management, and field operations.

Duties include understanding construction processes, quantity takeoff/estimating, submittal reviews, project documentation transmittals, and assisting in site setup, permitting, and closeout.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building Science.
• Must maintain a 2.5+ GPA.
• Able to work 40 hours per week during the spring semester.
• Completed freshman year of college.
• Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry after graduation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Gain understanding of the construction process.
• Participate in quantity takeoff/quantity estimating.
• Work with the submittal process: maintain logs, review and approve shop drawings and submittals.
• Prepare transmittals for distribution for project documentation.
• Assist in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout.
