Job summary

Bechtel Corporation seeks an Environmental Safety & Health Field Lead for a large power project in Millersport, Ohio. You will implement and enforce the ESH program, coordinating diverse disciplines, maintaining ESH databases, and guiding risk management and training efforts on site.

You will report to the Project ESH Manager and work outdoors across shifts, contributing to safety, environmental protection, and compliance with Bechtel standards on a 1.3 GW project adjacent to a hyperscale data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to research and comprehend regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
  • Experience leading a team of Environmental, Safety and Health professionals.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 Management System standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ESH program and ESH Management System.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintains ESH databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Performs statistical analysis of ESH data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Identifies and coordinates unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ESH personnel.
  • Leads teams in conducting risk assessments, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ESH issues.
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention.
  • Coordinates incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.
  • Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
  • Coordinates ESH recognition programs.
  • Researches moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Provides support to ESH field and office personnel, inclusive of all ESH discipline.

Project Overview

The project is a 1.3 GW simple-cycle power generation facility located in Millersport, Ohio, being constructed adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility includes multiple power generation technologies consisting of Solar Titan 130 gas turbines, Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance of plant infrastructure. The scope includes major civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, underground utility, control systems, and commissioning works required to support phased energization and turnover of the facility. Construction will be executed through a combination of direct hire and subcontracted labor supported by modularization, pre-assembly, offsite warehousing, and advanced work packaging methodologies.

Job Summary

The Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Field Lead helps implement and ensure compliance with each component of an Environmental Safety and Health program on the project. This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing environmental, safety and health aspects of a project or facility. The position reports to the Project ESH Manager.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintains ESH databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
