Job summary

Peterson Machinery Co. in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Field Technician to service and repair customer sites and rental fleet equipment.

You will travel to job sites, diagnose malfunctions, and perform engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical repairs, documenting work orders and parts used. The role requires an Associate degree in Diesel Technology or related field and at least 6 years of relevant experience; a valid driver’s license with clean record and ability to obtain CDL/DOT medical

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Diesel Technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment repair, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
• Communicate with internal and external customers to promote positive relationships.
• Travel to customer sites to perform maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment in the field.
• Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
• Repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and related components, electrical and air systems.
• Write service reports documenting diagnosis and repairs performed.
• Possess basic computer knowledge and use service software.
• Prepare work orders, parts lists, and timecards accurately and timely.
• Ensure company vehicle is clean and in proper working order.
• Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines to ensure quality work and document failure information.
• Maintain a positive professional image with customers and keep them informed on status.
• Develop and maintain strong customer service relationships.
• Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
• Maintain punctual, regular attendance.
