Job summary

Thompson Tractor is seeking a Field Technician to diagnose, repair, and service earthmoving equipment in the field or in shop settings. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and delivering efficient solutions to customers; requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of mechanical repair experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

On-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning are provided. Opportunities for advancement exist.

Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience with mechanical repairs or related technical education.
MVR required; CDL/Med Card preferred.
Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.

Responsibilities

Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures.
Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
Performs tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; minor adjustments as needed for service.
Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.
Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in timely manner.
Test and adjust components for optimal performance.
Works independently in the field as required.
Must have a valid driver's license to be eligible for hire.
