Job summary

Harris County Flood Control District seeks an Equipment Operator I to operate various small engines and equipment for maintaining channels, drainage elements, and rights-of-way in alignment with the District’s mission. The role emphasizes safe operation of heavy and light machinery in outdoor settings and adherence to district protocols.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma/GED, at least 1 year of field operations experience, and a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• 1 year of field operations experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and equipment such as spray equipment, tractors, chainsaws, XUVs, and weed trimmers.
• Mix and apply herbicides per manufacturer and District guidelines; clean and maintain spray equipment.
• Cut weeds, grass, and brush along channels and rights-of-way; remove debris from berms, slopes, and bottoms.
• Maintain equipment fluids, perform daily inspections, fuel and wash as needed; report issues to supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as required to meet District needs.
