Job summary

ElectriCom Inc is seeking an Equipment Operator to support aerial and underground fiber-construction projects. The role involves operating heavy equipment, assisting field crews, performing routine inspections, and ensuring safe, efficient job-site operations in outdoor environments. Overnight travel to sites may be required.

The position emphasizes safety, adherence to plans, and reliable performance across varied terrain, weather conditions, and project scopes.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment; telecom/utility experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow construction plans and job specifications.
• Strong understanding of job-site safety and utility-location awareness.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Willingness to travel to job sites, including overnight assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and rock saws.
• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation.
• Assist crews with groundwork and installation tasks.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of underground and overhead utilities.
• Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials.
• Work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions.
• Travel to job sites, including overnight out-of-town assignments; overtime may be required.
• Participate in required training and perform traffic control as needed.
