Job summary

Arcadis U.S.Inc. in Novi, MI is seeking an Environmental System Technician to join our Resilience Environment team.

This role blends field and office work, with 95–100% time in the field, supporting wastewater and water treatment systems across the region. You will operate, monitor, and troubleshoot treatment plant equipment, collect samples, calibrate controls, and coordinate with subcontractors while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of mechanical system O&M experience.
• Trade school certificate/associate/bachelor preferred.
• Wastewater or environmental water treatment experience preferred.
• Wastewater or water license certification preferred.
• HAZWOPER, Confined Space, safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust treatment plant machinery to meet performance metrics.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document activities in the Quality Management System.
• Take corrective actions when alarms occur or safety/compliance issues arise.
• Review data and recommend improvements to system performance.
• Collect system samples per permit and operational requirements.
• Calibrate controllers and prepare chemical mixes; install and download data from IoT devices.
• Oversee subcontractors for maintenance and repairs following safety rules.
• Record observations and readings for regulatory and client records.
