Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Field Services Technician to support on-site projects, ensuring safe, efficient field work and value delivery to clients. The role involves field travel across the region and coordination with the field office for daily reporting.

Job description

Schedule: Mon - Fri: 7a - 330p (or until job is done)

  • Must be clean shaven to wear respirator
  • Hours can vary based on customer demands including some weekends and holidays, sometimes night shift
  • Travel required - would travel with the rest of the team, with per diem, 30% annually
  • Must be drug free, not just initial drug screen, but continuous tested, randomly tested with potential to have hair follicle testing dependent on customer requirements
  • Driver License
  • Must be pass background
  • Must be able to pass MVR
  • Must be able to pass DOT Medical physical (required to drive large crew trucks)
  • Sometimes working out in elements (cold/Hot), steel mills, confined spaces or at heights
  • They mainly work inside facilities doing clean up work but do work outside on occasion
  • A lot of what they do can be considered janitorial in nature

  • They can get raises for CDL license and other certification
Field Services Technician

As a Field Services Technician you will be responsible for providing field work support on site-specific jobs to meet the goals of the project in a safe and conscientious manner while generating value and satisfaction to internal and external customers.

Location/Schedule: The position would report to the Field Office and then be dispatched out to projects in the region during the day. Report back to the office at the end of the day.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Prepares necessary supplies, tools, and other equipment for transport to worksite
  • Cleans and scrapes the inside, and assists with the removal of, underground chemical storage tanks; prepares waste for proper disposal
  • Provides demolition labor of contaminated buildings and land sites; operates excavation and filter press equipment
  • Operates small hand tools and provides other construction-related assistance during projects
  • Decontaminates Company equipment and tools
  • Loads, unloads and samples drums; responds to emergency spills as needed
  • Maintains the ability to travel up to 50% of the time to project sites
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience
  • Valid Driver’s License (preferred)
  • *individuals must be clean shaven at all times in order to don a respirator for protection.
Preferred Field Services Technician Skills:

Uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Above average comprehension skills to understand instructions and safety rules both verbal and written.
  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. This is not solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • The ability to generate or use different sets of rules for combining or grouping things in different ways.
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.

  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Active HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certification
