Job summary

Genex Systems is seeking a field engineering technician for a full-time, on-site role in Jackson, TN, supporting NRCS project sites in the region. You will interpret civil drawings, develop and modify NRCS designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and conduct surveying to produce contour maps and cross-sections.

Travel to active construction sites and coordinate with engineers, geologists, and regulators is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings for field teams.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and similar drafting software.
• Ability to download, analyze, and map survey data into contour maps and profiles.
• Experience using surveying equipment (levels, total stations, GPS, data collectors).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and on-site application.
• Willingness to travel to reach remote project areas.
• Proficient with SharePoint, Excel, and Access.

Responsibilities

• Analyze potential conservation sites and conduct engineering surveys.
• Develop and modify engineering drawings and NRCS designs as needed.
• Perform field surveys and produce contour maps, profiles, cross-sections.
• Inspect construction sites and verify material compliance; document findings.
• Track quantities and coordinate with engineers and geologists.
• Ensure work follows contract specifications and permits; maintain records.
• Explain drawings and project details to contractors and regulators in the field.
