Job summary

Commercial Metals LTD is seeking a geotechnical/structural engineer to support project feasibility, design reviews, and RAP system analyses. You will work with area managers, engineers, and Geopier licensee teams to guide technical direction and bid preparations.

Requirements include 2 years in geotechnical engineering and knowledge of soil mechanics, with exposure to AutoCAD and geotechnical software. PE/EIT preferred; candidates should be prepared for on-site collaboration across projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in geotechnical/structural engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Area Managers, Region Engineers, and Geopier teams to provide project-specific technical guidance for feasibility and bidding on Geopier design-build solutions.
  • Perform engineering analyses and design reviews.
  • Prepare or review engineering calculations and establish direction on projects with limited supervision.
  • Support RAP design reviews by performing slope stability and other geotechnical analyses.
  • Assist in troubleshooting construction challenges and design issues.
  • Review and approve RAP and other system designs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations at internal and external meetings.

What You'll Do
  • Works closely with Area Managers, Region Engineers, and Geopier licensee teams to provide project specific technical guidance and direction in support of project feasibility and project bidding efforts for Geopier design build solutions
  • Collaborate with Area Managers to perform engineering analyses and prepare design reviews
  • Prepares or reviews engineering calculations and establishes engineering direction on projects with limited supervision
  • Support Design Center review team by performing slope stability and other geotechnical analyses to prepare RAP designs
  • Assist in troubleshooting construction challenges and design issues
  • Review and approve Rammed Aggregate Pier (RAP) and other system designs
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations at internal and external meetings and workshops
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a geotechnical/structural engineering field
  • Possess a strong understanding of soil mechanics and structural loading conditions
  • Experience reading and interpreting project documents and drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - articulate communicator, adept in both electronic and verbal communications, professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and drive issues, tasks and deliverables from concept to closure
  • Proficient level of computer skills; MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software, including AutoCAD, Microsoft applications, other geotechnical software including, SLIDE, SLOPE-W, Settle 3D
Your Education
  • BS in Civil Engineering required - MS in geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Certificate of Engineering in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) Preferred
