Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to install and deploy CAD, mobile apps and RMS systems for government and municipal projects. You will manage on-site activities, verify system readiness, and perform routine maintenance.

You will work with a broad range of technologies, including virtualization, servers, and networking, in a fast-moving public-safety environment. This role requires 50–75% travel and a strong emphasis on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or Technology or 5+ years of experience deploying and integrating complex IP products and systems.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Managing and executing customer installation activities within agreed project timeframes.
• Verifying complete functionality and readiness of systems for software deployment.
• Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup/restoration, and troubleshooting.
• Gaining deep understanding of public safety customer environments to ensure optimal product security and reliability.
• Demonstrating proficient software and IP networking skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Deliver solutions that align with existing products, standard interfaces, and predefined procedures.
• Adhering to corporate guidelines and completing required training, including CJIS compliance.
• Accurately logging billable hours for project work.
• Travel (50%-75%) will be required.

Job Description

The Field Engineering team plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety by deploying Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Applications, and Records Management Systems (RMS). They handle all on-premise hardware and equipment installations for government and municipal projects, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and promote efficient standardization and reuse.

Responsibilities

• Managing and executing customer installation activities within agreed upon project timeframes.

• Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup/restoration, and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience installing, administering, and troubleshooting the following:
• Server Virtualization/Containerization: Specifically VMware ESXi v.7+ and/or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Database Servers: Particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later
• Server Operating Systems: Including Windows Server 2019 and later
• Workstation Operating Systems: Such as Windows 10 & 11, and Linux
• Network LAN Switches: Experience with HP Arista is a plus
• Storage Area Network (SAN): Experience with HPE Alletra and Nimble is a plus
• Basic Firewall and Router knowledge: Fortinet Fortigate experience is a plus
• Server and Workstation hardware: Experience with HPE compute hardware is a plus
• Window Active Directory (AD) administration including Group Policy Object (GPO) and Domain Name System (DNS)
• Experience using TeamCity is a plus
• Prior experience with the deployment, integration, operations, or administration of Public Safety Applications.
• Preferred candidates will reside in the Central time zone or Mountain time zone.

Target Base Salary Range

$75,000 - $85,000 USD
