Job summary

Zachry Underground & Utility Services is seeking a Field Engineer to support underground utility construction on large-scale projects. You will assist with project planning, scheduling, cost control, documentation, QA, and field coordination, working with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient execution per plans and specs.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or related degree and 0–3 years’ construction experience. Travel or relocation may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 0–3 years of construction or engineering experience; underground utility experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel or relocate for project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project administration and field operations for underground utility projects.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, permits, and project documentation.
• Track quantities, production, costs, and project progress.
• Support project scheduling and short-term work planning efforts.
• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents for compliance.
• Assist with change order tracking, reporting, and project controls.
• Coordinate with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Support quality control and project closeout activities.
